Public Advocates is excited to announce our search for a Human Resources Associate on our HR Team based in our San Francisco office.

 

Position Summary

The HR Associate/Generalist is responsible for providing administrative support for the Human Resources (HR) team in a broad range of HR functions, including, but not limited to, recruitment, HRIS, employee onboarding and off-boarding activities, processing tasks, maintaining personnel files, and various administrative functions. It will be critical for this role to have a substantial degree of confidentiality, customer service focus, attention to detail, and the ability to partner within and outside the HR team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the recruitment cycle, including reviewing requisitions, updating the staffing log, posting job announcements, and partnering with other admin support staff to facilitate and manage interview calendars.
  • Prepare paperwork and schedules for the new-hire onboarding process and coordinate with cross-functional departments.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate new-hire orientation, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS).
  • Ensures that staff completes online harassment training.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the performance evaluation master calendar.
  • Assist with launching and closing the quarterly performance evaluation process.
  • Assist with researching DEI focus strategies for promotion, retention, performance evaluations, recruiting, and hiring.
  • Provide general administrative support to the DOT, including organizing and maintaining the HR drives and folders.
  • Maintain records and files for the entire employee lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with the DOT to improve HR processes and procedures.
  • Updating RTO attendance log, providing reports to DOT
  • Other projects as assigned.

 

Qualities and Skills Sought

  • 3 years of HR Generalist experience
  • General understanding and ability to execute HR functions.
  • Familiar with DEI concepts and terms
  • Excellent proofreading skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail – the ability to produce error-free work.
  • Good written and communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain high professionalism and a positive attitude, setting priorities, and exercising the ability to follow through while setting and managing multiple preferences, with a high degree of follow through.
  • Strong time-management and project-management skills
  • Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality concerning sensitive information.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with all staff.
  • Capability of completing work independently, including identifying potential barriers or inefficiency and proactively communicating those needs to the Director of Talent/HR.

 

Compensation & Work Setting

This position will be based out of our San Francisco office , employees work remotely 3 days a week and 2 days in the office.

Competitive salary range begins at:

  • $49,000.00 to $58,000.00 Benefits include full health and dental insurance for employee and eligible family members; flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care; life and long-term disability insurance; generous vacation; 403(b) retirement plan; parental leave; professional development budget; and paid sabbatical after 7 years.

Public Advocates adopted a COVID-19 vaccination policy, effective December 1, 2021, that requires all employees to either establish that they have been fully vaccinated (this now includes the first booster) or obtain an approved exemption as an accommodation.  While we have not yet updated the policy to include the second or subsequent boosters, such a revision will be forthcoming.  All staff are expected to abide by this policy and subsequent revisions.
