Sumi (she/her/hers) joined Public Advocates as director of finance & administration in 2012 after 10 years of service in a similar role at Partners in School Innovation, a nonprofit school reform organization focused on eliminating inequity in the public school system. Before that, she worked for Sylvan Ventures, a venture capital fund investing exclusively in education companies, where she evaluated potential investments and assisted portfolio companies with strategic planning.
Her other work experience includes investment banking and corporate treasury; she also spent one year abroad teaching English to college students in Nanjing, China. In her free time, Sumi enjoys exploring the “domestic arts” and entertaining her children.
Education
Sumi received her B.A. from Wellesley College and her M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
