Judge Anthony Kline is a co-founder of Public Advocates. Kline was a law clerk for Honorable Raymond Peters at the California Supreme Court early in his legal career. He then went on to the law firm of Davis, Polk and Wardell, and in 1971, started Public Advocates Inc. with Bob Gnaizda, Sid Wolinsky and Peter Sitkin. In 1975, he was named Legal Affairs Secretary to Governor Jerry Brown, and in 1980 was appointed a judge at the San Francisco Superior Court. He presided as Associate Justice for the Court of Appeal, First Appellate District, Division Two until his retirement in December of 2021. Judge Kline graduated from John Hopkins University and received his law degree from Yale Law School.
