Jetaun is a Senior Staff Attorney on the Education Equity Team, where she advocates for equity in the Higher Education system. She joined Public Advocates in March of 2021. Prior to joining Public Advocates, she served as a Staff Attorney at Children’s Law Center of California where she directly represented youth in the Sacramento county child welfare system for nine years. While at Children’s Law Center, Jetaun advocated for youth ranging in age from newborn to 21 years old and who experienced different challenges including trauma, child sexual exploitation, untreated mental health diagnosis and developmental disabilities.
Jetaun prides herself on being of service to her community in both her professional and private life. She is a past president of the Greater Sacramento Urban League Young Professionals and former board member of the Greater Sacramento Urban League. She is also an Alumni of the New Leader’s Council-Sacramento Chapter (2017) and currently serves on the Advisory Board. She also serves on the Leadership Team of the Sacramento Sister Circle and is a member of the Wiley Manuel Bar Association.
She received her J.D. degree from Santa Clara University in 2009 where she was on the Dean’s List. During law school, Jetaun was an Editor for the Santa Clara Journal of International Law and a Co-Chair of the Public Interest Social Justice Coalition. She also participated in clinical work at the Northern California Innocence Project and Katherine and George Alexander Worker’s Right’s Clinic. She also completed a summer internship at the Center for Justice and Accountability. She received her B.A. degree in English from Alabama A&M University in 2005 where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is also a Child Welfare Law Specialist certified by the National Association of Child’s Counsel. She is a native of Sacramento and spends her free time with her two chorkies Bella and Baer.
