    Deborah Sims, Ed.D., (she/her/hers) is a management consultant offering customized executive level leadership and organization advisory services. In collaboration with the California School Boards Association, she is currently a member of the faculty of the Masters in Governance Program and is a governance consultant providing services to school boards within the State of California. Dr. Sims, with more than thirty-five years of proven experience and professional expertise, has served in leadership and executive positions in both K-12 Education and non-profit organizations. Deborah Sims, as a nationally recognized and awarded urban superintendent, has served as a mentor and executive coach to superintendents with a specific interest in supporting women and women of color executives.

    Prior to her current role, she served as Vice President, Strategic Systems and Innovation for Pivot Learning, a nationally recognized non-profit organization committed to trans-forming public education by partnering with school districts and educational systems, in their efforts to innovate, achieve excellence and improve equitable student outcomes and organization governance and effectiveness. In Dr. Sims’ role, she led transforma-tive initiatives, across the nation in the areas of education finance, executive leadership development and change management.

    Dr. Sims’ tenure as Superintendent of the Antioch Unified School District in Antioch, California was recognized for transformative accomplishments including increased K-12 student achievement and organization and construction of new schools.

    Prior to Dr. Sims’ appointment as Superintendent, she was selected from among 300 national leaders in education, corporate and the military to be named a Broad Fellow in the distinguished Broad Superintendent’s Academy, whose mission was to prepare leaders to assume the leadership of the nation’s largest urban school systems. In 2010, Dr. Sims was selected as a U.S. Department of Education Reviewer for the Obama Administration’s Race To The Top Program, a $4 Billion federal initiative, designed as a competitive State Grant created to reward academic and systems innovation and reforms throughout the nation.

    Dr. Deborah Sims is actively engaged in the community through volunteerism, board membership and philanthropy. She is the recipient of numerous awards recognizing her accomplishments and contributions to her field and her commitment to service. She received her Doctorate in Organization and Leadership and Master of Arts from the University of San Francisco.
