August 24, 2017 – The Long Beach Post’s Jason Ruiz covers our appeal against the Long Beach Unified School District. It is the latest step since our complaint in April 2017 that alleged that LBUSD misspent $40 million intended for high need students. Senior Staff Attorney Angelica Jongco is quoted in this article.
California’s new education funding law, Jongco says, “is about providing something more for students with the highest needs to really make a difference. To close that achievement gap, those funds should not be used to provide those basic services that should have been provided under the law all along.”
