June 27, 2017 – It can be hard to know how certain education funds are spent, according to an article by Voice of San Diego’s Maya Srikrishnan. The state’s new education funding law (Local Control Funding Formula) sets aside money to support high needs students. According to Srikrishnan, it is often challenging to identify exactly where these dollars go, and if they are being spent as intended. The article also mentions Public Advocates’ complaint against the Long Beach Unified School District for misspending $41 million intended for high needs students.
