On October 5, 2015, Public Advocates submitted recommendations to the City of Oakland regarding its draft Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice, or AI. As part of their obligations under the federal Fair Housing Act’s mandate to “affirmatively further fair housing,” jurisdictions that receive federal housing funds must complete an AI that identifies impediments to fair housing and integration, as well as actions to address those impediments.
