The Facebook -ETB-East Palo Alto pact will help create affordable homes, protect tenants, prevent displacement and increase access to jobs in the East Palo Alto area.
The Envision Transform Build – East Palo Alto (ETB) coalition of community organizations and Facebook announced a ground-breaking and innovative agreement on December 2, 2016 that could be a model for other communities dealing with the affordable housing crisis and resulting displacement of longtime residents and, in some cities, entire communities.
The compact announced is the result of conversations that ETB and Public Advocates initiated with Facebook dating back to 2012. For more information about negotiations with the Menlo Park City Council back then to meet the city’s share of the region’s affordable housing needs, see here.
