Affordable Student Housing

Public Advocates is committed to removing barriers to accessing higher education and ensuring students have the resources they need to achieve their academic goals. Housing is one of the largest cost barriers to accessing higher education for low-income and BIPOC students who often must choose between getting an education and working to meet their basic needs. According to the 2023 California Student Aid Commission Food and Housing Survey, students who are Black, Latinx, over the age of 24, low-income and/or attending a community college are more likely to struggle with housing insecurity than their peers.

We are working with student-led organizations and other higher education advocates to find solutions to housing insecurity and homelessness.
