Politico, California Playbook PM: civil Rights law firm seeks to block prop 2 funds

2. Proposition 2 (2024): The civil rights law firm Public Advocates is asking a judge to immediately block state funding for school infrastructure, arguing that $4 billion voters approved in 2024 for that purpose is being distributed inequitably through a funding formula that discriminates against poor communities. The firm sued the state last fall, but filed for a preliminary injunction last week in Alameda County Superior Court because it claimed that the funds would likely all be distributed before the trial concludes.
