January 17, 2017 – Gas and Electricity Magazine explores the problems that ride-sharing services have created for the Oakland Airport-BART Connector. The Connector, long criticized as a boondoggle, is now seeing ridership drop below projected numbers. A community member is quoted in the article as saying, “They wanted to take (the money) and spend it on people who could afford airline tickets instead of giving it to people who could barely afford bus tickets.” Public Advocates filed and won a lawsuit against BART when the Connector was being planned. The lawsuit complained that the planning process did not analyze the impact that the project would have on minority and low-income residents.
