Know Your Rights Presentations
Students are entitled to know their rights and advocate for themselves. Public Advocates has supported student power by educating them on their rights at the local and state level.
PA has developed a series of Know Your Rights webinars regarding students’ access to transfer level math and English courses at the community college level. These webinars have been presented to students and staff to support their understanding of the law and ensure students are being placed in the right courses. Students who are aware of their rights are better equipped to make informed decisions about their educational journey.
PA has developed a series of presentations to CCC, CSU, and UC students detailing ways they can make their voices heard at the local and state level. We have provided tools and tactics on how to engage with stakeholders and how to engage in the legislative process. Students have a right to make their voice heard and be a part of the decision-making process.

Student Resources
Keeping students informed is a key part of building student power and realizing our student engagement vision.
Legal Resources
Our legal work primarily focuses on policy advocacy and enforcement of existing laws, rather than working with students as individual clients. However, we always encourage students to contact us if they are facing educational barriers related to our current issue areas or would like to share with us their stories of encountering education inequity.
