August 24, 2017 – KPCC’s Kyle Stokes covers our appeal to the California Department of Education against the Long Beach Unified School District. The appeal follows our complaint in April 2017 that alleged that LBUSD misspent $40 million intended for high need students. Senior Staff Attorney Angelica Jongco is quoted in this article:

“A district like Long Beach — that serves a lot of high-needs students — also receives a lot more money than other districts that don’t,” said Jongco. “There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that funding.”
