Streetsblog California: State Transit Transformation Task Force Concludes its Work with unsatisfying Final Meeting

October 19, 2025—Streetsblog California Editor Damien Newton covered the final meeting of the state’s Transit Transformation Task Force, which concluded its two-year process with recommendations for new transit funding and greater coordination across agencies. Task Force member Laurel Paget-Seekins, representing Public Advocates, introduced motions calling for the legislature to explore multiple funding options and consider a per-mile tax for electric vehicles.

“It was at the 11th hour, but the Task Force passed critical recommendations for new state transit revenue,” said Paget-Seekins. “These recommendations are essential building blocks…but the real work begins now. I’m committed to mobilizing with partners across California to transform these recommendations into legislative action and deliver the expanded, reliable transit service our communities need to meet our climate commitments and advance transportation equity.”
