The Sacramento Bee: California bill would stop cities from fining, jailing homeless people for camping

March 27, 2025—The Sacramento Bee’s Housing, Real Estate and Development reporter Theresa Clift names Public Advocates as a supporter of Senate Bill 634. The bill, which was just announced, would stop cities and counties from issuing fines and jail time to homeless people for “acts related to experiencing homelessness,” including camping.

The National Alliance to End Homelessness, Public Advocates, Western Center on Law and Poverty, Disability Rights California and Inner City Law Center support the bill that Perez introduced.
