Fox 40 News: California residents gather at State Capitol to protest rising rent

April 29, 2025—Fox 40 News reporter Christinna Bautista speaks with Director of Legislative Affairs Michelle Pariset on AB 1157 – the Affordable Rent Act. Renters and advocates rallied at State Capitol on April 28 to protest rising rents and urge lawmakers to pass the Affordable Rent Act, which would lower California’s rent cap from 10% to 5%. Michelle begins speaking at 1:05.

“We really need California’s legislators to lead in this time and lead us to this crisis. The voters said, I think, loud and clear that their biggest issue is affordability.”
