Working Conditions

Public transit jobs don’t have the wages and working conditions to attract their needed workforce, resulting in lower service levels for riders. Public transit agencies have not adjusted to the changing labor market, often have toxic and unhealthy work cultures, and frontline workers have unrealistic schedules that cause health and wellness problems.

We work with frontline transit unions and riders to push for changes to improve working conditions. This work ranges from advocating transit agencies make realistic and reliable schedules for bus operators to supporting policy and funding for workforce development and training programs.
