Equitable Policies
Current (and past) transportation policies do not distribute the benefits and costs of transportation equitably. Structural racism has shaped our built environment in ways that overburden Black and Brown communities and limits their mobility; the allocation of transportation resources disadvantages Black and Brown people and those living in low-income communities.
We work to ensure that there are equitable policies for transit funding, fares, service, and the distribution of public street spaces. This work is built off enforcing and protecting existing civil rights laws, and advancing policies that expand the definition and analysis of equity. We work with transit riders and workers to advocate for policy changes at local transit agencies and city governments, regional planning organizations, and with state and federal policy makers and elected officials.
