California Higher Education Student Housing Resource Guide
Housing is often one of the largest barriers to a student’s success. Students increasingly face challenges in finding housing resources when they need them most. Public Advocates and Young Invincibles, in collaboration with the California Affordable Student Housing (CASH) Coalition’s student power building workgroup, created this housing resource guide based on student feedback and experiences navigating housing, to empower you with critical housing resources and information.
The CASH Coalition brings together higher education advocates and student-led organizations to find solutions to student housing insecurity and homelessness by listening to students about the challenges they face when accessing affordable housing and informing them about key policies. We want to thank our CASH Coalition student power building partners—The Afrikan Black Coalition (ABC), GENup, Students Making a Change (SMAC), United Way of Greater Los Angeles (UWGLA), and UC San Diego Associated Students (ASUCSD)—who worked with us on this guide.
The CASH Coalition is convened by Public Advocates Inc., a civil rights law firm and advocacy organization that challenges the systemic causes of poverty and racial discrimination by strengthening community voices in public policy and achieving tangible legal victories advancing education, housing, transit and climate justice.
Public Advocates is not a direct service provider. If you are interested in any of the services listed, please contact the organization directly using the information provided. This document will be updated to reflect resources at different campuses and cities across California. If you are aware of any relevant resources not currently listed on this guide, please fill out this form.
Navigate the Resource Guide:
The student housing resource guide is cataloged by public higher education segments and by specific cities and counties. Select your desired category via the table of contents to find your selected campus, city, or county.
